About Olisippo Obscura

Olisippo Obscura is a Lisbon-based collective dedicated to immersive roleplaying experiences, live action roleplay (LARP), historical fiction, horror, mystery, and interactive storytelling.

Founded in Portugal in 2014, the project was born from a passion for creating meaningful narratives where participants are not mere spectators, but active protagonists. Through carefully designed settings, memorable characters, and collaborative storytelling, we aim to create experiences that blur the boundaries between game, theatre, history, and social interaction.

Our events range from intimate chamber LARPs to large-scale immersive experiences, exploring themes such as political intrigue, espionage, folklore, occult mysteries, historical events, and personal drama. While many of our inspirations come from gothic horror and speculative fiction, each project is developed as a unique experience with its own atmosphere and narrative identity.

What is LARP?

Live Action Roleplay (LARP) is a form of interactive storytelling in which participants physically portray fictional characters within a shared narrative world.

Unlike traditional theatre, there is no audience and no fixed script. Every participant contributes to the unfolding story through their choices, actions, and interactions with others. Organizers provide the setting, characters, and narrative framework, but the story itself emerges collaboratively during play.

LARP combines elements of roleplaying games, improvisation, historical reenactment, and immersive experiences, creating opportunities for creativity, social connection, and memorable adventures.

Our Philosophy

We believe that the best stories are those created together.

Our events are designed to be welcoming both to newcomers and experienced players. No previous LARP experience is required. We value inclusivity, creativity, mutual respect, and player safety, ensuring that every participant can enjoy the experience in a comfortable and supportive environment.

Costumes are often encouraged when appropriate to the setting, but they are never the most important aspect of participation. What matters most is the willingness to engage with the story and with fellow players.

Location and Language

Most of our events take place in Lisbon, Portugal, although special projects may be organized elsewhere.

Our primary working language is English, allowing an international community of participants to take part in our activities.
